Core System Concepts

The UIR Tool is structured around defined system entities.
These entities form a hierarchy that controls configuration, analysis, and report generation.

Lodgement

Top-level project container.

Defines:

  • Project boundary
  • Geographic context
  • Applicable overlays
  • Overall analysis scope

All Design Options and Reports exist within a Lodgement.

Design Option

Represents a servicing scenario within a Lodgement.

Each Design Option:

  • Contains one or more Disciplines
  • Is evaluated independently
  • Generates its own Reports

Used to assess alternative servicing strategies.

Discipline

Represents a single infrastructure domain (e.g. Power, Water, Sewer).

Each Discipline includes:

  • Structured SIR inputs
  • Demand configuration
  • Spatial markups
  • Validation rules
  • Calculated outputs

Discipline outputs feed into Reports.

Demand Data

Structured input data used to calculate infrastructure demand.

Characteristics:

  • Discipline-specific
  • Required for analysis
  • Validated prior to calculation

Incomplete or invalid data will prevent report generation.

Gap Analysis

Compares calculated demand against available infrastructure capacity.

Identifies:

  • Capacity constraints
  • Required upgrades
  • Servicing risks

Performed per Discipline within a Design Option.

Report

Generated output for a Design Option.

Compiles:

  • Discipline inputs
  • Demand calculations
  • Gap analysis results
  • Supporting imagery

Reports reflect the current validated configuration state.
